Duties :
Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to LAN. Recommends and schedules repairs. Provides end user support for all LAN-based applications. Installs and configures workstations. Under minimal supervision, utilize expert Administrator skills to support a 100+ node Windows NT/2000 network environment. Possess Microsoft System Engineer knowledge level in the operation of Microsoft server products including IIS, Exchange, user profiles, domains, DHCP, DNS, WINS, SQL, active directory and account management. Perform data backup and restores to support the company business continuity directives. Possess networking knowledge to program and support L2 and L3 networking components. Possess data security knowledge to program and support network firewalls and anti-virus implementations. Complete and direct discovery, estimating, planning and implementation of software and hardware projects. Implementation, administration and troubleshooting of Windows NT/2000 Server Operating System.
 
The System Administrator provides highly technical expertise and guidance in the administration, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the network and its systems. Duties include but are not limited to planning, coordinating, and managing the migration of legacy data and deployment of software releases; providing oversight for the operations and systems support group including Level 2 Help Desk, and database administration. Additional oversight responsibilities include controlling access, assuring safekeeping, and monitoring the use of the databases; configuration management; contingency planning; and quality control.
 
This position creates logical network designs, generates network device configurations, and provides technical support during the installation cycle. Create logical network designs on all physical quoted networks from Pre-Sales Engineering which includes but is not limited to: IPsubnet configurations Dealership Domain configurations, DNS/WINNS configurations Define network device configurations prior to staging and installation which includes but is not limited to: - Routers (Cisco, Ericson, Intell, Engage) - Hubs/Switches - Terminal Servers - System Gateway and Routing Table updates - Etherplex controller configurations and TCP port allocations - Generate Statement Of Work for Staging Centers on all logical network designs. - Create final physical/logical design and install certification documentation for Support Groups.

  • Knowledge of ADP software and hardware products and the market in which they are used.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, IPX, NFS, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, and SNMP protocols.
  • Experience in systems integration with an emphasis on any following technology areas: - Frame Relay, ISDN, Voice/IP, Voice/Frame Relay, ATM Network Operating Systems UNIX SVR3/4, Windows NT, WIN 95 Data Communications (ASYNC, SNA, X.25) Network Security
  • Ability to document complex network designs.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:
  • Requires BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Minimum four years experience in the administration of a Windows NT/2000 network environment of greater than 250 nodes. At least one year experience at the level of skills and abilities above.
  • Minimum three years experience in the administration of TCP/IP based ; Ethernet network of greater than 250 nodes. At least one year experience at the level of skills and abilities above
  • One year experience with network security configurations.
  • minimum of 5 years of Unix systems administration/engineering is required.
  • This position also requires strong leadership skills and a successful track record of driving projects to completion.
  • Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot server and desktop hardware including SCSI, RAID, and networking configurations.
  • Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot Ethernet networking components including L2 and L3 switches and routers.
  • Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot Exchange Server, SQL Server, and IIS
  • Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot user profiles, account management, active directory, domains, DHCP, DNS, and WINS
  • Ability to program, administer and troubleshoot Checkpoint Firewall-1; and Cisco PIX products
